Fundacion Efrain is building up workers for the harvest!

“When the Bible refers to a laborer, what is it describing? For a partial answer to that question, we can look at a statement of Jesus. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matt. 9: 36–39)

A laborer is one who is directly related to the harvest. We recognize there are laborers of many kinds in the work of the church, but for our purposes we will concentrate our attention on this one kind— the harvest worker. The word that Jesus used is the word ergatees, which means “a farmer, one who works in the field.” This truth is hard for some Christian leaders to accept. They visualize themselves at the other end of the spectrum. Rather than being out in the hot, dusty field doing the work of field hands, they see themselves behind huge desks in air-conditioned offices, jotting off memos to others that labor. But the Bible makes no provision for this kind of leader.”
