Maybe some of you don’t have much problem seeing Jesus exalted at the right hand of the Father. He IS Jesus, after all. But, you’re not quite so sure where YOU stand. You are still walking around here on earth, after all.
– Even when we were dead in sins {God} has made us alive (quickened) together with Christ [by grace you are saved], and has raised us up together, AND MADE US SIT TOGETHER IN HEAVENLY PLACES in Christ Jesus.-
Ephesians 2:5,6
Now, in the present. It’s already been done-past tense.
A place of authority. A place of rest. A place of honor.
Not convinced?
As children of God, the Spirit bears witness that we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ (Rom. 8:17). However, we learn from the fourth chapter of Galatians that a child does not walk in, or exercise/use, his position of authority in spite of being the heir. As such, we can remain in bondage under the elements of the world! Even though we “be lord of all!”
We’ve all seen movies or read books in which an unsuspecting soul is duped by an unscrupulous conniver who took advantage of their innocence or lack of knowledge. God warns Israel in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
In order for us to occupy the place Jesus has for us and to assume the dominion we once had in the garden, we need to fulfill two conditions: walk as mature adults in Christ instead of like children, and be informed about the position of authority He gave us.
