Home from the hospital after 3rd post-op chemo!!!!

Normally the bag of carboplatin administered on 6 North takes an hour and is started by 11 o’clock. For some reason we didn’t get going till 1 p.m., but were still encouraged about the proceedings because I was quickly transferred to the bed in MICU and the first bag of taxol was hung promptly.

EXCITED: all the ensuing steps went smoothly and we looked forward to the final, 12 hour dose to be finished around midday on Wednesday.

However, it was a good thing I listened to the floor supervisor and ordered lunch! The resident neglected to enter orders for my discharge early in the day, so although the procedure ended the earliest ever we waited much longer than expected to be able to leave.

God’s “little” deeds are such a blessing. We need to recognize and appreciated the apparently small ways He works in our lives.

Revelation 12:11

They overcame him because of the Lamb’s blood, and because of the word of their testimony. They didn’t love their life, even to death. (WEB)

1) The first simple answer to a prayer about the veins in my arms was when blood was able to be drawn from a vein which the lab tried and failed to get any blood two times before.

During this hospital visit we received two more:

2)The IV Team member who started this session’s IV, had an “urge” to create two separate lines: a primary one for the radioactive chemo drug and one for the other medications. By not alternating the drugs through the same IV there would be less stress on each vein.

3) I’ll have 4 weeks off before blood is drawn to monitor the COUmadin dosage and will not need bloodwork for yhe next scheduled chemotherapy until 8/25. This provides a significant time for blood vessels to rest and recuperate from tests and IVs.

When I picture a survivor, I imagine an individual like Rocky after one of his fights. I don’t know about you, but that’s not how I perceive myself!

a person who has overcome or defeated an adversary; conqueror. *

Actually Jesus is the conqueror. I really did not do anything to overcome my adversary. I just stood on my covenant rights paid for by our Lord!

Romans 8:37

No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (WEB)
