#WHAT is my purpose?

Maybe…

  • You are a young adult plotting the path for your life
  • Your husband/wife/significant other has gone and you’re wondering what’s next
  • Your work situation hasn’t panned out or you now find yourself without a job
  • Your kids have grown and moved away from home

Is that You?

What is Making You Ask the Question “What on earth am I here for?”

A time comes in life when everyone exclaims, “There must be more than this!” It’s a time of personal evaluation. You assess your situation and want to know What’s is all about, Alfie?

The wisest man on earth in his day said,

Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher. All is vanity!

Ecclesiastes 12:8 (WEB)

Solomon had no limit of wealth nor power. The fame of his wisdom was widespread. He had tried everything he could think of during his life. Nothing was withheld from him. Yet he concluded,

This is the end of the matter. All has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.

Eccclesiastes 12:13 (WEB)

Why Should I do that, you ask?

For I know the thoughts < purpose, or machashabah in original Hebrew/Aramaic> that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end.

Jeremiah 29:11 (WEB)

How ‘Bout Hope?

I’m here to assure you that you are not just a speck of unimportant cosmic dust floating around in a vast universe. You were fashioned according to a plan, by intelligent design, as part of the blueprint of creation.

God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.

God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.

Genesis 1:26, 27(WEB)

Mankind has been assigned the awesome responsibility of ruling over and caring for creation.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.

Ephesians 2:10 (WEB)

Why should I believe all this? What’s in it for me?

Solomon discovered that fulfilling all his desires was not enough. If you want to enjoy the fullness of life, live a life worth living. The most satisfying life is full of good works and the love of your Creator.

But that’s not all. There’s more…

and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

Ephesians 4:24 (WEB)

Fulfill your purpose, now!
