Pr 22:28 Don’t move the ancient boundary stone, which your fathers have set up. (WEB)

My grandma was a strong Christian.

Strong- in that she was committed. She was saved when she went to “the altar” @ 12 years in a Brethren church in PA. When she died, she was almost 95. “GG” (as she chose to be called when great-grandkids came along) was not a great Bible scholar. She didn’t preach or quote scriptures, but for years she taught 3 year olds in Sunday school. I remember listening to David and Goliath on her record player.

Ps 105:8 ¶ He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.

She left me a heritage given to her through her mother, Myrtie.

Ps 103:17 But the lovingkindness of Jehovah is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, And his righteousness unto children’s children; (ASV)

I have made every effort to pass on this precious heritage to my children, and they have chosen “the Way” for themselves.

Jer 6:16 Thus says Yahweh, Stand you in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way; and walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls: but they said, We will not walk [therein]. (WEB)

Not everyone chooses accept their spiritual heritage, although the Lord has promised to extend His mercy and protection for generations. He will not, however, forget His promise.

1Ki 11:11-13

11 Therefore Yahweh said to Solomon, Because this is done of you, and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant. 12 Notwithstanding in your days I will not do it, for David your father’s sake: but I will tear it out of the hand of your son. 13 However I will not tear away all the kingdom; but I will give one tribe to your son, for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen. Many ignore the ancient landmarks set up to establish and identify our birthrights. They’re being torn down left and right causing many to wander aimlessly and without direction. A large number in these contemporary times search in vain, trying to determine who they are.

Sadly, we witness the same phenomenon “in the church.” Instead of building on the foundation laid by their forefathers, numerous leaders attempt to distinguish themselves from the older generations. Instead of learning from wise and godly counselors, “young people” try to set themselves apart and make their own way.

Mt 5:17 “Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill. (WEB)

Jesus, Himself, being God living in flesh, didn’t seek to tear down the old structure in order to build the new!

Eph 2:20 being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone; (WEB)

Let’s remember the old landmarks and build upon them.

Heb 7:22 By so much, Jesus has become the collateral of a better covenant. (WEB)

Sometimes people try to mix the old and the new and bind themselves by the restrictions found in the Old Testament. We can even become religious and legalistic in our New Testament living.

Heb 8:6 But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, by so much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which on better promises has been given as law. (WEB)

John 8:32 You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” (WEB)
