You Can’t Outgive God

Nobody can!!!

2 Cor. 9:7

Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver. (WEB)

Paul went to «the Church» for help for the poor in Jerusalem and other places.

You see, God gave us the job of caring for each other’s needs, not the government! The Greek word for cheerful is hilaros which means propitious or merry, i.e. prompt or willing.

Dt. 15:7

If there be with you a poor man, one of your brothers, within any of your gates in your land which Yahweh your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother; (WEB)

«But I don’t have enough for my own needs!»

Really!!??? What about the 12 t-shirts you have sitting on a pile or the five pairs of jeans hanging in your closet that you don’t wear any more?

I can’t think of anything more satisfying then to hear «That’s just what I needed» when I have taken an unused item that has been laying around the house and passed it on to someone else.

I can hear someone out there saying to him/herself: «Why should I give to you anymore if you’re giving stuff/money away?» Well, giving is not restricted only to the rich!
