Focus on: ICT Chaplain

Traditionally, a chaplain is a minister, such as a priestpastorrabbiimam or lay representative of a religious tradition, attached to a secular institution such as a hospitalprison, military unit, school, police department, fire department, university, or private chapel. Though originally the word “chaplain” referred to representatives of the Christian faith,[1]

like Esau, who sold his birthright for one meal. (WEB)

Hebrews 12: 16

How many people have lived their entire lives never realizing their intended destinies? People who were endowed by their creator with awesome gifts and talents that if cultivated would have impacted and changed the world. True greatness that was never realized lying hidden within the bosom of unwary souls. The irony of this treasure buried in earthen vessels is a tragic loss to mankind and a triumph for the powers of darkness. Satan delights in every soul that sells forfeits or ignores their God ordained calling. He is a sinister thief and will stop at nothing to steal any destiny that will ultimately glorify God. I have served as a hospice chaplain and have witnessed first hand the devastating effects of a stolen destiny.

Heritage

Pr 22:28 Don’t move the ancient boundary stone, which your fathers have set up. (WEB)

My grandma was a strong Christian.

Strong- in that she was committed. She was saved when she went to “the altar” @ 12 years in a Brethren church in PA. When she died, she was almost 95. “GG” (as she chose to be called when great-grandkids came along) was not a great Bible scholar. She didn’t preach or quote scriptures, but for years she taught 3 year olds in Sunday school. I remember listening to David and Goliath on her record player.

Ps 105:8 ¶ He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.

She left me a heritage given to her through her mother, Myrtie.

Ps 103:17 But the lovingkindness of Jehovah is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, And his righteousness unto children’s children; (ASV)

I have made every effort to pass on this precious heritage to my children, and they have chosen “the Way” for themselves.

Jer 6:16 Thus says Yahweh, Stand you in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way; and walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls: but they said, We will not walk [therein]. (WEB)

Not everyone chooses accept their spiritual heritage, although the Lord has promised to extend His mercy and protection for generations. He will not, however, forget His promise.

1Ki 11:11-13

11 Therefore Yahweh said to Solomon, Because this is done of you, and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant. 12 Notwithstanding in your days I will not do it, for David your father’s sake: but I will tear it out of the hand of your son. 13 However I will not tear away all the kingdom; but I will give one tribe to your son, for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen. (WEB)

Many ignore the ancient landmarks set up to establish and identify our birthrights. They’re being torn down left and right causing many to wander aimlessly and without direction. A large number in these contemporary times search in vain, trying to determine who they are.

Sadly, we witness the same phenomenon “in the church.” Instead of building on the foundation laid by their forefathers, numerous leaders attempt to distinguish themselves from the older generations. Instead of learning from wise and godly counselors, “young people” try to set themselves apart and make their own way.

Mt 5:17 “Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill. (WEB)

Jesus, Himself, being God living in flesh, didn’t seek to tear down the old structure in order to build the new!

Eph 2:20 being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone; (WEB)

Let’s remember the old landmarks and build upon them.

Heb 7:22 By so much, Jesus has become the collateral of a better covenant. (WEB)

Sometimes people try to mix the old and the new and bind themselves by the restrictions found in the Old Testament. We can even become religious and legalistic in our New Testament living.

Heb 8:6 But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, by so much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which on better promises has been given as law. (WEB)

John 8:32 You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” (WEB)

saving health y@shuw`ah

Ps 67:2 (WEB) That your way may be known on earth, and your salvation [y@shuw`ah] among all nations,

Let’s look at the Strong’s Concordance entry for this word:

something saved,

i.e. (abstractly) deliverance; hence,

  • aid,

  • victory,

  • prosperity:

  • –deliverance,

  • health,

  • help(-ing),

  • salvation,

  • save,

  • saving (health), KJV

  • welfare

We need to hear this Good News and tell it!

But, how can we t e l l it if we haven’t experienced it?

I guess that’s where I come in… cuz in 2015 I experienced it!!!

And I’m thrilled to tell about it!!!

I would not be here today without it!

Well, last January nobody came out and said, “You have ___ time left.” They (the doctors) did say “STAGE 4.” I had cancer cells in fluid on my right lung, malignant masses throughout my abdomen, and massive clotting caused by cancer in my left leg. The tumor marker, CA125, was at 280 – normal is <30.

TODAY: CA125=16, CT scans clear – no cancer found anywhere.

So my job is to tell you, God heals.

But, what about…?

GOD HEALS!

But, what about…

…You forgot, my daughter died! I’m saying,

“Fear not, only believe (Lk.8:50).”

Bible search results for fear not, almost 150 x.

My grandma always used to says things would work out. But realistically, we can see that’s not always so. We can be ‘half full’ or ‘half empty’ people, true. Yet we must have a sure foundation for faith.

You need Bible-based faith– a “Thus saith the Lord.”

Even under the Old Covenant, God told Jeremiah, (1:12)

Then said Yahweh to me, You have well seen: for I watch over my word to perform it. (WEB)

When #The Struggleisreal

Luke 6:48 He is like a man building a house, who dug and went deep, and laid a foundation on the rock. When a flood arose, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it, because it was founded on the rock. (WEB)

electronic fast

In an effort to give precedence to proper priorities this month, many of my friends have gone on an e-fast (or maybe that’s i-fast)!

Why is that?

In this 24/7, instant society where a majority of our communities cannot be “disconnected” for even a moment, their senses are over-stimulated. They cannot

Be still,

and know that I am God.” Ps 46:10 (WEB)

It is considered a badge of honor to be

busy

buried

booked

scattered

committed

over-active

over-booked

over-scheduled

not have enough time

have too much on your plate

have too many irons in the fire

run around like a chicken with its head cut off

Have you been there? Do you know what I mean?

But how does God really see it?

Ge 2:2 On the seventh day God finished his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. (WEB)

It is time for a time out: to quiet your mind to hear from God, to rest your body so that it can restore itself, to take a day off from work (ministry). Not just purge once a year, but discipline yourself not to abuse such a great tool as technology.

1Co 9:25-27

25) Every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.

26) I therefore run like that, as not uncertainly. I fight like that, as not beating the air

27) but I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected. (WEB)

Modern conveniences make our lives easier. State-of-the-art electronics are to be enjoyed. Foremost, let these advances be instruments for God’s glory.

1Co 6:20 for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. (WEB)

#BlindFaith

I. The importance of faith.

Heb 11:6 Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him. (WEB)

It pleases God when we believe Him and take Him at His word.

Ro 3:3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? (KJV)

Ro 3:3 For what if some were without faith? Will their lack of faith nullify the faithfulness of God? (WEB)

What does it matter what people around you think or say? This does not stop God from being Who He is! He continues to hasten His Word to perform it. You’ve got to be convinced of His promise/Word for your situation.

Mt 9:29 Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.” (WEB)

II. The simplicity of faith.

Do I think these things can happen today? Emphatically, yes!!!

Why don’t we see more “miracles” now? You tell me…

We try to understand things with our minds. But, when what we see does not line up with “thus saith the Lord,” what are you going to do? I’ve seen people go in circles, like a dog chasing its tail, because they could not grasp a spiritual law or concept. God did instill curiosity in us to explore, but when the answer is not in the realm of our natural ability to comprehend we need to just ACCEPT IT as fact and go on.

Three times Jesus is recorded as saying,

Mr 10:15 Most certainly I tell you, whoever will not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.” (WEB)

Lu 18:17 Most certainly, I tell you, whoever doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.” (WEB)

Mt 18:3 and said, “Most certainly I tell you, unless you turn, and become as little children, you will in no way enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. (WEB)

We need to be childlike in our faith which is built upon the WORD (Rom. 10:17). This is how our faith pleases Him.

III. Seeing their faith.

When we believe, it is evident. It can be seen by others

Mt 9:2 Behold, they brought to him a man who was paralyzed, lying on a bed. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, “Son, cheer up! Your sins are forgiven you.” (WEB)

… and then he was healed shortly afterwards.

Four men let a sick man down through a roof: Mr 2:5

Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” (WEB).

He, too, received healing. Also found in Lk. 5:19.

Ac 14:9 He was listening to Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes on him, and seeing that he had faith to be made whole, (WEB)

What do you think happened in this case?

When you read these accounts you will find they all received in accordance with their faith.

IV. Blind faith.

     – Faith is not blind. Faith sees, i.e. Abraham (Rom. 4:20). Faith believes. Faith acts.

Great Faith

Jesus noticed a couple people with “great” faith. Neither were of God’s Chosen People! Faith does not depend on your ancestry or heritage.

     – a Roman centurion in Mt 8:10 When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to those who followed, “Most certainly I tell you, I haven’t found so great a faith, not even in Israel. (WEB) Lk; 7:9

He was a man of authority who recognized that when Jesus said it, it would come to pass.

     – a Canaanite woman claiming crumbs from the Master’s table in Mt 15:28 Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that hour. (WEB)

She was persistent and would not take no for an answer.

Heb 11:1 (WEB) Now faith is assurance <hupostasis> of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.

Just like Abraham who saw his body, yet didn’t look at its limitations.

Strong’s #5287. upostasiv hupostasis, hoop-os’-tas-is

means{substance: or, ground, or, confidence}

The Amplified Bible describes it as the confirmation or the title deed. You know, that you know, that you know. I own this.

What do you need from the Lord?

According to your faith be it done unto you.
